The Federal Government of Canada has recently published a Food Guide. This recommends the regular intake of vegetables, fruit, whole grains and protein foods. Among protein foods, it recommends consuming plant-based more often, while advising the Canadian population to eat less processed meats and foods that contain mostly saturated fat. The advices include:
– eating plenty of vegetables and fruits
– eating protein foods, which include meat and dairy foods as well as plant-based proteins like tofu and chickpeas
– choosing whole grain foods
– making water the drink of choice
